Environmental protection
The Environmental Protection department is responsible for protecting the city’s environment from pollutants. The department also regulates shorelines and annexations. It also helps the community plan for the future. The city has a comprehensive plan which sets forth its goals and future vision. Among the goals of the plan are affordable housing, environmental protection, and economic development.

Recently, the city’s water treatment facility completed a new roughing filter and UV building. The new systems will improve water quality by removing impurities and removing particles that could make water unhealthy. In addition, the city’s drinking water is now disinfected to LT2 federal standards.
